Hey guys, just lookin' for a little advice.... I have the following system

ABIT KT7a-Raid
Tbird 850
CL2 crucial 256mb RAM
2-45GB IBM Deskstars
ATI Radeon 32MB DDR

Anyway, I'm working on overclocking this puppy (I already put in the pencil lines)... here are my results, but I'd like other opinions on how to MAX this puppy out

980mhz(7x140) voltage 1.85

thats the highest I could get it into windows, and get it to operate normally

1001(7x143) I could get it to post here, but no windows :(

so it seemed to max out at the 980 setting... but then! I ran 3dmark and it kept crashing to the desktop partway through.. after a little investigation I found out that this happens if your cpu is even A LITTLE unstable.. so I need to drop it back down to get it to work right... this is an 850 and I was hoping to get it up near 1.1ghz at the max, and then bring it down to a stable 1.0 or maybe 1.05.... any advice at getting this working?

thanks

also, anyone have a set of super optimized bios settings for this abit, it would be much appreciated )

its realy hard to say how well a chip will overclock untell you try. you say your votage is at 1.85v is that what the bios setting is at or what it reads as, if you can turn it up your ok. did you try 7.5x133, you never know it might work, if not try 7x133.

I tried 7.5 x 133... no go... I have it set to 1.85 volts in the bios........ 7x140 works, so dropping to 7x133 might work but I'll still be sucking it up in speed loss... All I know is that it will BARELY go past 140mhz, no matter the multiplier.... so im guessing thats the max for my cpu in mhz, but i was hoping I could squeez some more STABLE speed out of it.....

*bump bump* Anyone out there with a suggestion? similar set up? etc?

btw, I dont have artic silver on it yet, it has the old pad still... that would give me some better cooling, and the case fans arent in yet.. has anyone noticed a significant increase in processor speed because of lower temps? my cpu is around 45 or so... (in windows it says 30?!?)
