Abit kt7a and SoundBlaster Live with MP3+5.1 Problem

I bought this card friday from staples, installed it in my abit kt7a. 2 things, one time yesterday, i was only getting sound from one side of my speakers, i rebooted the computer and it fixed this. But still my computer freezes up atleast once an hour. Is my card defective??? Is there a conflict or update i need?? HELP!!

I doubt it is a defective card. There are many known issues with the Live! cards and Via Athlon chipsets. A number of solutions that have worked for people can be found here.
