Abit kt7a and SoundBlaster Live with MP3+5.1 Problem

I bought this card friday from staples, installed it in my abit kt7a. 2 things, one time yesterday, i was only getting sound from one side of my speakers, i rebooted the computer and it fixed this. But still my computer freezes up atleast once an hour. Is my card defective??? Is there a conflict or update i need?? HELP!!
 
what type of OS you have installed? If it's win98 or win98se try using Dr. Watson and maybe it could show you the conflict (if exist).
Go to Start, Run, and type drwatson and hit enter.
