Seriously - I thought I had bad chips - finally understood my board really wont boot with anthing higher than a 600 - all bigger chips just hang at the memory screen - post but hang completely - can't get into bios - nothing.

Anyone else have this happen. Is there a fix or bad mobo. Yes I did clear the cmos. Didn't help.

Thanks

What BIOS you have? Latest?
Have you tried to boot just with video card, hdd and memory on it?
And what PS you have?
Give us more information about ur system.

Good luck!

I have double checked everthing else - different memory - power supply - hard drive- video card - I have amd approved 300 watt power supply - it really won't get unstuck with a 700 duron - a 750 duron - or a 1gz Athlon.

No I haven't flashed the bios - original bios - I'm not sure if this board is rev 1 or not - got it about 6 months ago.

In any event shouldn't even an old bios handle more than 600?? Gee. The manual says it handles 700 durons and up to 1 gz Athlon!!~

Thanks

There was an issue with this board and 600 mhz Duron's requiring a bios update and something else I think. Durned if I can remember though. Go to viahardware and read the faq. I'm sure you will see it there.

Hey try to flash to a new BIOS and see what happens. Since you might have a revision 1.0 mobo. If Clarkmo said that might have a problem.
Worth a try flashing the BIOS I think.
Just be careful flashing it.

Good luck!
