Abit KT7 - RAID problems......

Hi,
Last week I purchased the Abit KT7 with RAID.

My current system configuration is as follows :
Athlon Tbird 1.1 Gig
Abit KT7 Raid motherboard
2 x 128 Meg Micron PC133 RAM (At banks 0,1)
10 Gig Western Digital HDD ATA66 connected in the primary IDE slot
Coolmaster Copper fan (supports up to 1.5gig)
External air blower (from rear of case)
Internal air blower (from front of case)
Twin fan module in 5 1/4 inch drive bay (blowing outwards)
300W teamseven switching power supply
(default bios settings exept for cpu speed set at 100x33 and x11 - default voltage)

My problem is, when the system is idleing, the CPU runs at a steady 38 degrees celcius, but as soon as i play a game or run an app, it shoots up over 60 degrees celcius. (A friend has the identical fan and CPU as mine and it runs at 45-50 degrees celcius maximum.)

Also, my PIII 733, boots up a much quicker then my Athlon 1.1, both installed with the identical HDD and software.

Any help ?
Thanks
Salvo

It sounds like you don't have a goot seat on your heatsink. Look at it to see if it is crooked. Also, are you using thermal compound? If not and you are using that sticky crap that comes on so may heatsinks now, then take it off and use compound. If you are using compound, you may have used too much. You only need a thin layer. Are you getting good air flow in your case? You may want to run with your case open to see if there is a big temp drop. Touch your heatsink to see if it seems to be drawing the heat away.
