I am redoing my computer I just got because of video card problems. I have the ABIT KT7-RAID While I am at it, I am wondering if I should change how the Raid has been configured. I asked the company who put my machine together to put the system drive (IBM Deskstar 30 gig) on IDE 3 and then stripe the other two IBM drives together (RAID 0) on IDE 4. I chose to put the system drive on IDE 3 because IDE 1 and 2 don't support ATA 100, only ATA 66. The company didn't follow my instructions and put the system drive on IDE 3. Instead they put in on IDE 1 and then attached 1 drive to IDE 3 and the other to IDE 4 and somehow striped them together. When I asked them about it. They (not to confidently) said the stripped drives together would work better on separate IDEs than hooked together in Master/Slave configuration. Does this make sense or improve performance and if so would performance outweigh being able to have system drive run at ATA 100? Any opinions would be appreciated?
