ABIT KT7 Raid issues with scandisk and defrag

Having trouble with my ABIT KT7 running MS scandisk and defrag or any other software that attempts to look into the hard drives. Just locks up the system. Running two Maxtor 4g ATA 33's as RAID 0. Everything else seems to work OK - can load and run software and all other hardware works OK. Any thoughts?

What BIOS are you running?
I think I've heard that previous BIOS were having problems with MAXTOR drives. The latest BIOS is version UL, avalaible on Abit web site.
You can check the BIOS version when you boot your computer, at the bottom of the first screen. There will be numbers, and then -UL, in the case of the UL BIOS.
Hope this helps.

Yes, I have checked and even flashed the latest BIOS and installed the latest drivers (although not the beta drivers).

I found the solution to my problem so I thought I would share it with anyone searching for the same answer:

Setting the disk drives to cable select was the cause. If you have issues with drive access try setting them to master/slave.
