Abit KT7-R: No more than 384 MB of RAM?

I recently bought a 256MB stick of PC133 RAM (since it's dirt cheap right now), and when I installed it, bringing my total to 512MB, I get crashes and low memory messages. When I back off to 384 I'm okay as long as my I/O voltage is up 0.1 (3.4V). Is it incompatible RAM? The two 128s are identical, but the 256 is a different brand. Why then would they work okay with just one and not with both installed? Thanks for the help!

I have a kt7-raid with a pair of generic 256mb sticks for 512mb total. I have a duron 800 oc'd to 945 (9x105), voltage at 1.75v, 3.30 I/O. System is about as stable as I can imagine, I go weeks without someodd thing requiring a reboot.

I run Win2k pro, SP2. I did have win98 on there dual-boot, but took it off sometime back, never used it much anyway.

I was on Win98, and I could only get 256 on that. Upgraded to WinME, and can now get 384. My BIOS settings are all at defualt, except for frequency, which I have set to host+pci since it's PC-133 RAM and my Tbird runs at 100mhz. I've tried running the RAM at 100mhz, no difference.
