Ok I'm building a new rig. Its a Duron 600 with Abit kt7
I just put in all the parts except for a sound card.
Western Digital 30 gig HD, 128mb ram.
My problem is whenever I turn it on, it goes into "sleep" mode
After about 20 seconds. I mean that the monitor turns off by itself.
The machine is still on but the monitor turns off so I cant see
the BIOS. It posts one beep so thats OK but I dont know whats up.
2 problem: it recognizes the duron 600, 128mb of ram and WD hard drive.
Then it gives me CMOS checksum error- defaults loaded.
Anybody get this.
I've checked the ABIT KT7 FAQ @ Apu's hardware but no luck

A CMOS checksum failure happens when the CMOS loses power or the date/time have not been set properly. Set the date/time in your BIOS. If it continues to happen, the "clear CMOS" jumper is set improperly, the battery is loose or the battery is defective.
As for power management, you either have the power switch connected to the SMI lead, or it's a setting in the APM section of the BIOS...

I posted another question about a power issue, cause I have a generic 250watt PSU.
Could that be suffering? I don't know about the batter though the mobo is only 1.5 months
old. I reset the CMOS jumper and checked the power leads and made sure everthing was
seated properly. Anyhthing else? Thanks
