ABIT KT7 Headaches!

I have built a new KT7 system with an 850 TBird. What is giving me headaches is that the system hangs in the middle of games (like old Micorprose Mech Warrior) and when I play Star Trek Voyager: Elite Forces it hangs when I exit the game back to the regular desktop. The desktop comes back but the system is totally hung (mouse won't move, Ctl+Alt+Del won't even work). When I reboot, the system hangs at the completion of the windows load... same problems when exiting a game. If I shut down and leave power off for about 20 minutes I can get back to work.

Could this be a ABIT compatibility issue with a Matrox G400?

If it is, would it be better to replace the KT7 or the G400?

When was the last time you re-installed windows? Did you get the latest 4in1's? Your not overclocking? Whats your voltages set at? And your memory settings, where are they at?

I have the exact same problem, but I have a MSI GeforceII mx graphics card. No overclocking, Athlon950, 256MB RAM and several SCSI and IDE hard drives.

What confuses me is that I have to turn off the computer completly for a few minutes to boot sucsessfully after a hang situation.

I initially loaded 98Se but had the same lock up problems. I thought it was 98Se as the problem so I reformatted and installed Windows ME clean.

I do have the latest VIA drivers: 4.28 and it seems to be running fine except for games.

Not overclocking either so it isn't stressing the CPU. My voltage settings are the defaults under the SoftMenu III - Core = 1.7v and the I/O = 3.3v.

I have the memory settings at default with only the DRAM clock set to HCLK+PCICLK, other than that all its all the default settings.

Any other ideas would be helpful...

Thanks
