I'm having a fun time with this combo on my computer. I get general instability, that behaves like heat related issues. However my processor is running very cool along with my case. Nothing is overclocked. The real kicker is when I run a game, or anything else in 3d the instability is bad. Distorted audio...flickering of the screen and crashes. Either dumps to windows, restarts, or blank screen with a cursor, that requires a hard re-boot I've gone to abit's web page, and they claim setting some hex number in the bios fixes the problem. It doesn't, but when I installed the VIA 4-in-1 drivers the problem is fixed to a degree. The games are playable, but the sound does occasionally not keep up, just for a split second. Now if I leave the hex value alone, and just install the 4-in-1 it still doesn't fix the problem...both have to be done. I've seen someone else in the boards have a similar problem, and I was wondering if anyone else with this combination has had complete sucess with solving this issue, and might be able to provide better insight into the problem.

thanks,
Jay

Which version of the 4in1? Which drivers for the MX card? I am running 4in1 v4.24 and Detonator 2 v5.22 drivers. I did NOT install the VIA AGP driver (I don't think) or the USB driver.

Also it still may be heat, are you running Rain? When my CPU is idle its at 28C-30C, but it can get up to 48C-49C if I run it real hard for a while. Make sure you are assigning an IRQ to video, also read the VIA FAQs on the KT133 chipset. There are some BIOS settings you may try disabling. (I think fast writes and AGP 4x which doesn't do anything anyways) Did you try the UL version of the BIOS? I guess if al else fails, do a clean reinstall of Windows, and when Win is autodetecting things, DO NOT restart until the 4in1 drivers are installed. Tell Windows NO I don't wish to restart!

HTH, I like my KT7/TBird system so far.

Well I think I got it fixed. I did a bunch of things in the agp settings in the bios. Which one actually did it I don't know. But I turned off fast writes, killed agp 4x, and once in win98, I did some things with direct3d setup mainly it had anti-aliasing on, so I turned that off, and v-sync I turned off. I also took your suggestion in grabbing the det 2 5.22 drivers. It's stable I played Deus ex this morning for like 4 hours no problem. I'm also able to run cas 2 and FSB 112 giving me 1004 MHZ. (Makes me think I could probably get 1.1GHZ if I connected the bridges) At anyrate I have never had this many problems with any intel system I've built. Kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth for VIA/AMD I've also noticed people with the asus board are having less trouble. I suppose that's what I get for being on the bleeding edge of technology.

Thanks
Jay
