ABIT KT7 and non-working DOS window?

After successfully setting up my system with the ABIT KT7-RAID
MB and an AMD 800MHZ CPU, I tried to open a DOS box (admittedly, I hadn't needed to open one for months). I can't seem to type anything in the DOS box. It's totally frozen.

I can close the dos box by clicking on the 'x' on the window but that's about it.

Any ideas?

Starnge. Did you try reinstalling windows, and not formating? Do you have the latest drivers for everything installed including the latest Via 4 in 1 drivers?
