Abit KR7A-Raid Troubles :(

I just built a KR7A-Raid , it worked great with 256 mb ram , than i installed a second 256 mb stick, and it started acting weird.Random lockups, programs would not run.It boots up fine until it gets to Windows (WinME) I tried moving the ram to a different slot, same result.Tried different ram, from different company. As soon as i take out the second stick it runs fine.Is there any way i could use more than 256mb ram?
thanks

Are the sticks the same manufacturer? Same speeds?

I've read that PC1600 and PC2100 don't mix.

Try slots 3+4.

Also try upping the RAM voltage one notch. If that doesn't work, back down on the memory timings, don't make them so aggressive.

Do you have it set at 100mz or 133mz in bios, I also read that setting it at 1T in DDR can help.
I have 2 sticks of Crucial pc 2100 and have not had a problem in mine since i det it at 1T

Check the manual but I think to use all 4 slots the memory needs to be registered DDR sticks. Of course that does not explain why it does not like your when using 2 or 3 slots.

Try to run the RAM individually to ascertain that they work first.

BTW is it 4 sticks or two sticks?

Maybe a good idea(if its two sticks only) to use slots 1 and 4...Thats how i did it with my AK31

Hope that helps!

Tried all combinations, slot:0-1 , 1-2 , 2-3 ,0-3 ... tried setting 512 mb limit in windows ME , in msconfig, all four sticks works fine, individually placed, but when more than 1 stick is in there, it starts acting up.Bios settings are on the safe side,it boots fine no problem, only acting weird in windowsME.Thanks for the help anyway.

I would experiment with the ram timmings and see what it will do for you.
I have crucial pc 2100 and can use any slot.
