OK, fellow techies.......try this one one for size........I am building a system for a friend. The hardware that is creating this issue is an ABIT KR7A-RAID motherboard. When outside the case, it posts fine. As soon as its mounted in the case, nothing, nada, zilch, zero response from the board...it won't post or even turn on. I have tried two boards (the original and the replacement) with the same results. I thought that there might be a grounding problem when mounted in the case, but there are no signs of that. Also, I have tried another ABIT board in the case and it worked with no problem at all.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEELPPP!!!!!

That sounds exactly like a grounding problem. I know you said you addressed this problem, but look again and MAKE sure that there aren't any stand-offs or other things touching the bottom of the mobo other than the ones you are using to hold the mobo in place.

Make sure you do not have any stand offs in a location which could ground the mobo out

Make sure the mobo is not touching the sides of the case...

Worse case scenerio...may have to put rubber,or paper washers on the standoffs then mount the mobo and possibly paper washers on the top of the mobo before screwing it down if the alignment is poor

Well, folks......my fear has become reality. I disassembled my son's PC, which is in a different type of case than the ones I am testing with, and also has the screw-in posts, rather than the bubble-type stand-offs that these cases have. Sure enough, it fired right up. I hate nights like this!! I thought it was a grounding problem, too, but I had to test all possibilities. Thanks for the input!! I may get sleep after all tonight!!

This might be unrelated, but worth checking -- I had the exact same problem but came to find that it was the power switch. The solder "became loose" on one of the wires, so that if I tried to fire up the board outside the case it would work. I guess the wire was being pulled just right so that it would work while out of the case.

*shrug* Good luck :)

I had that problem when i install my rig with KR7A-Raid
what you should try is loose or just take it out the screw
on the middle by the ddr ram slot.
believe it or not that what i did after i post the problem
here and somebody told me that, and it works..

good luck
