Abit KR7A-RAID Question

Does the onbaord RAID controller allow the RAID connectors on this board to be used as regular IDE connectors if RAID isn't being used? Or are they only good for RAID?

<< yes, as long as your hd is support ata 133 >>

I just want to confirm that if I don't go RAID right now and use one of the RAID connectors as regular IDE, my HDD will operate at UDMA 133 (Maxtor D740X). I've read that it will only do 100 unless used in a RAID configuration at which time it will do 133.

<< Yes they will do 133 in non Raid, plan on getting a few myself >>

Thanks, didn't make sense that they wouldn't.

The only limitation I've seen regarding using IDE3 or IDE4 for non-RAID devices is that only two partitions are recognized on these ports.

When I booted a four-partition HD at IDE3, only partitions C:\ and D:\ were visible. E:\ and F:\ could not be accessed.

Hope this helps!
