I've Abit KR7A-Raid and Soundblaster Live. It plays music fine as long as i am not doing anything. If i do someting like coping files from one directory to another, it makes screechy noise. I think it is dropping frames. I've latest bios for kr7a-r and i downloaded the lates t driver for Soundblaster.

Anyone had a similar problem before ?

thanks

What operating system? If it is a VIA based board then you might need to download the via 4 in 1 drivers from viaarena.com Maybe that will also help your burner problem.

Good Luck

I have the KT7A-RAID and had a similar problem when the SB Live shared an IRQ with the RAID controller. Both are very picky about sharing IRQ's so you definately want each item to have its own IRQ whenever possible. If your board is setup like mine, then I believe PCI 5 shares an IRQ with the HPT chip. Check out Paul's KR7A-RAID FAQ for more info.

I have a KR7A-RAID and SB live...I recommend that you do not allow anything to sharing with PCI 5...and the HPT controller if you are using the raid/ata133 controller...

there is a latency pci patch that is out that may help your situation ..there is a known problem with via southbridge chip and hdd transfer with the SB cards...I never experienced it though...but I did find my hdd transfers were much better after using the latency patch....

check here for info...tweak discussion on viahardware.com

George Breese made the patch is a link to his server...George Breese PCI latency patch

I am using version 0.20 beta works fine
