Abit KR7A-133R & xp2100+

I'm getting ready to build a rig, but then the 2100+ was released last week, so now I'm trying to do some balancing here. I was going to get the xp1900+ but the xp2100+ looks sweet - and it's only $90 more.

So, does anyone know if the xp2100+ will work ok on the Abit KR7A-133R board?

Also, while I'm at it, does anyone know the release date for the xp2200+ cpu? That .13 micron looks tempting. Think it'll work ok on the KR7A-133R mobo?

Why wouldn't it, he bios supports the multiplyer.
I have a 1900 and oc it to almost the same as thre 2100
I would think the 2100 is pushing it to the limits until the die shrink is out.
The thoroughbreds are right around the corner. I would wait until they come out at the end of the month.

I have heard horror stories about the Via chipset and the XP cpus...I bought the KR7A - 133 and the XP 2100 already and am waiting on a case. I wasn't worried about ocing it or anything but a friend of mine has the KR7A and an xp 1900 and says it reboots by itself, freezes, etc. Gaming is horrible. He says that he put the FSP to 136 and all problems stopped. I had probs with Via in the past and it always seems like they put out stuff that gets rave reviews and then a month later everyone says they stink. But I dunno if 5000 ppl buy a mobo and 50 of them post in the forums that it sucks....does it suck or is 50 ppl got bad luck? This forum has kept me from making some serious mistakes in my purchases and machinations and I dunno what I would do without it. However it is my belief that the only way you can really see if a board will work it to try it out with your specifications and your hardware. I hope mine works out ok...if not, would someone like to recommmend a good motherboard to review for XP cpus? hehe something not via?

thanks

Uhm, VIA is the major supplier for AMD chipsets. They are the makers of most stable and fastest chipset currently available right now. VIA being unstable with XP cpus?? Where are you getting your sources??

Most people on this forum who has XP cpus and a DDR ram are using VIA chipsets. I never heard a single complain about their KT266A chipsets.

Are you talking about the KT266 and not the KT266A chipset??

Is your friends running a 300W PSU? How did he narrow the source of the problem to the chipset?

I guess you can go towards the AMD 760 route but thats still behind KT266A.

Im on my third ABIT board right now, currently a KR7A-RAID. Works flawlessly with a XP1700+.

I was wondering the same thing. But looking at the INTEL side when they switched from .18 to .13u technology which rendered their old boards useles, Im sure simmilar thing will happen to AMD boards. Not too sure though.

ShinSa - most of what my buddy's info can be found here Also, sorry I was misinformed about the source..he said the Abit KR7A board specifically, not the Via chipset. He says it works flawlessly with tbird 1333 but it is cranky and reboots for no reason with XP cpu

And since my case it out for deleivery today, I will see whether or not my new sys will suck mud or run rabbits..from what I have read here and on the amdmb forums, it should fly..

Thanks
