Assembling this rig:
Abit KR7A 133 raid mobo
Athlon XP 1800+
512 meg DDR PC2100 ram
2 x 40 gig IBM 7200's
2 x HDD cooler fans mounted infront of drive bay.
2 x Seagate Cheetah 18 gig 10k's
another 2 x HDD cooler fans
1 x 8cm chasis fan off mobo
400 watt PSU (at last!)
Sony CD-Rom
FDD
Matrox G450 VGA
Creative Live audio
Adaptech 29160n SCSI card

Sounds good but on power up theres no VGA. Stripped down to bare bone system (1 HDD, 1 PCI device - Matrox G450) - still nothing.
Swapped out VGA card to Radeon - Nothing. Got mobo + cpu tested - they're fine. At start up the fans all work, LED's on mobo are good but no beeps or any indication of HDD activity.
Could it be the memory? (only element I havent independantly tested, of coarse.) Please Help!!!

Howd you get the Mobo and the cpu tested??

One time, my Epox gave me no screen and no beep at all during post. It turned out the CPU was fried.

You can still strip it down further. Disconnect the hard drive and everything but your VGA card. Take out the Ram. Does it beep?? If it beeps, CPU is ok. If no beep, CPU is not ok.

CPU and mobo tested by the agents from whom purchased. They tested the CPU by installing it on another system and the mobo the same with different ram and cpu, both given clean bill of health.
Have just done your recommended test and no beeps. Will swap out CPU next.
Thanks for your help.
Any one else?

Something made me repeat your test and lo and behold! I got a beep with no ram installed! Re installed the memory and no beep no vga. So presumeably its the RAM thats at fault. I'll borrow some and test later. Thanx again.

try clearing the cmos using the jumper
Also try pressing the insert key when you boot up.
try changing the ram
