Guys, I just got my KG7 and Athlon XP 1600+ today. I installed the CPU, heatsink, Diamond V770, RAM, a FDD, and my IBM HD. The system starts up and all the fans start plus the HD begins to spin up. The FDD, HD, and video card work with my older system and have been tested a second time. Nothing is coming from the video card and the system doesn't progress past that point. The DDR ram confuses me since it appears symetrical. Which way should it install? Also the power supply supports the new Intel Pentium 4 standard, but states that it's backward compatible with AMD. Will that type of PSU work with this MB? Any suggestions would be helpful because I'm at wits end. I also reset the CMOS I think. The directions weren't exactly clear. THANKS.

I've seen it quoted in other threads that the TNT2 32meg doesn't work with KG7, has anyone else heard this directly?

Thanks

Take the video card out and see if you have any problems? May be time to upgrade that video card if that is an option. There are some fairly nice ones out there for a decent price. Also, I would hope that the KG7 you bought came with the newest BIOS version since the older versions do not support the XP processor. Thats something you might want to look into also. Good Luck!

I couldnt get my kg7 to boot properly without the newer bios. I am unaware of any issues with the tnt2 32 mb cards.
One thing to make sure of though, is that you populate the dimm slots from 4 down to 1. Use only one stick in slot 4 until you get it up and running..

I didnt see you state the rating of your ps. Im running both of my xp systems with good quality 300 watt power supplies with absolutely no trouble. However I am not an overclocker, so if you intend to overclock, go with the suggestions of a higher rated power supply.

Unplug anything you dont need to get it going before adding "extra periphreals".

I have an epox 8kha+ i built last night running great on an antec 303 ps. The system has 4 80cm case fans (2 off motherboard and 2 off ps), a yamaha 40/20/10 cdrw, a 16/40 Acer dvd/cd, radeon 8500, santa cruz sound, axp 1600+, 512 mb Mushkin enhanced ddr cas 2/2/2, 80gb wd hhd, netgear nic. no hiccups at all. I will have no hesitation in adding another hd at some point soon.

Well I didn't seat the RAM well enough. The clips locked it in, but that wasn't enough. I'm still having issues though so any advice would be appreciated. First, I can not run the FSB at 133 mhz with the system locking up while booting. I think the RAM may be garbage since it was a little cheap in price when I purchased it even though I was assured it would work. I also can not install Win2K which is a big deal to me. After the reboot during install it starts up Windows and begins the final setup, but I get the BSOD, then a memory dump when NTKERNEL.EXE (the kernel) is doing some type of process. I'm positive that this may be due to the crappy RAM, but I'd like to get your opinions on the as well.

Push ram in DIMM 4. Boot computer using something other than an Athlon XP. Flash Bios to 2nd to newest bios. newest is wierd.
