What do you think.....???

I wanna upgrade from a P3 500 / Abit BH6 M-Board / 512Mb Ram (PC100)/ 30Gb HDD / GeForce 256 DDR to something with a little more poke.

So i'm thinkin' AMD 1.2Ghz(266) - Abit KT7A-RAID - 256Mb RAM (PC133)

But wait!!! I see the Abit KG7-RAID!!! DDR!!

Should i wait for it and would it be worth the extra money? (Since new motherboards are always overpriced)

Anyone know when the KG7-RAID is due out?

Answers on a postcard to........

The KG7 is due out later this month. I knew a few people waiting for this day to come. I would wait also if I was a bit more patient, instead, I bought the 8K7A.

This ABIT board is overrated IMHO. I have very happy with the performance and stability of the 8K7A. ABIT used to be the underdog to ASUS and ABIT boards were cheaper in the early PIII-era. Things changed and they aren't as affordable as before. Also, the performance gap between board manufacturers are diminishing dramatically.

I am on a budget so I picked the cheapest available. I figured I don't need 4-dimm slots and RAID. ABIT still makes good board, but the price-performance ratio makes it less attractive than it used to be.

Just my $0.02

KG7-RAID once the price drops big time, should be the best AMD 761/VIA 686b mobo. Until them I recommend MSI's K7 Master.

Well when Anandtech does a review on the board we good folks will be able to tell if it was worth the wait!
But Dam this puppy cost alot wood!(199.00)..ouch If i cost about 150/140 it would be a great buy.
My .02 😎
