I am about to upgrade my KT7 setup and would like some input on which board to purchase. The KG7 interset me because I am familiar with Abit boards and they are easy to use. I have heard the same for the EPoX boards, but have no experience with them. Also, how easy is it to flash the bios on the EPoX boards. Thanks in advance, any suggestions would be helpful

On the flashing, it's never a hard task. It won't be any harder than an Abit. It can only get easier if you buy an ASUS. I would go with the Epox.

How does the KR7a compare to the EPoX 8KHA+. I've heard good things about both, and don't necessarily need the 4 DIMM slots on the abit board. I have had good luck with abit boards, but am willing to try any board that matches good performance with reasonable cost

The Kr7A is $85 more than the 8KHA+. Ouch. I like Abit, but not for $85 more.

Unless you need raid? I don't.

I am wondering how much less the kr7 without raid will be. I might be able to justify 20-40 more for the abit over the epox, but i agree, not 80 more

The price on the abit will drop. When the kg7 first came out it was 200.00. Within 2 weeks I bought it for 165. It was still going down, I just didn't want to wait any longer.

If you want RAID, wait for EPoX 8KHA2. Otherwise, go for the 8KHA+. The new ones are rev 3.0 with the U= bios. By this time, they are quite stable, and the bios is loaded with goodies. There's even a rumored bios that's gonna have 1/5 dividers (just a rumor I heard today). Mine is coming in soon, and I can't wait to build a system based on the 8KHA+.

What is the advantage of getting the kr7 versus the kg7. How much faster will one be over the other?

I just upgraded from Abit KT7A-R to Epox 8KHA+ and for the price and performance you get from Epox board be silly to pay extra for an Abit unless you gotta have Raid,
