I recently upgraded my processor on my ABIT KG7 motherboard. Due to the information posted in this thread: Abit Forums I chose the Athlon XP 2400+.
Unfortunately, Now I am having random lockups. Windows XP recognizes it correctly as a 2400+ and when you boot the system the Bios shows it correctly as an Athlon Xp at 2.00 GHz, so from that I think that the board is working correctly..but I am still getting lockups.
It mostly happens when I put any kind of load on the system, like playing Planetside or Everquest.
I am running a 325W power supply. 2400+ chip, gone back to my old GeForce 3 TI200 vid card, have 2 hard drives (20 and 30Gb) and a CD-Rom and a CD-Burner. Is it possible that I am having power supply issues?
I also bought a new vid card at the same time as the chip...but took it out as a troubleshooting method..but do you think the above configuration with a GeForce 4 TI4800se would be too much load on that power supply?
I do not think that it is a heat issue either. I have been monitoring the processor and case temps and the chip is usually around 50C and the case is 38C or there abouts.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
Thanks
