My kingwin case has the inputs in the front and it has cables that trace towards the back. Where do these usb and firewire cables connect to? Does it connect to the motherboard? If so where? I'm a lost newbie and could use some help. Thanks in advance. I really appreciate

Connect them to the headers on your motherboard. The IEEE 1394 firewire header is located near the top of your AGP video slot, next to the 2 CD/AUX sound connectors. The USB 2.0 header is located on the other end of the AGP video slot, right between the large chip labeled "intel" and a smaller one labeled "abit". Good Luck.....

PS For reference check page 5 of your manual for the diagram of the motherboard.

maybe i'm being lame.....but the cables that come from the front of the case to the rear are the actual cables/input plugs....they are not headers.....does that make sense?.....there are no actual usb/firewire connections on the motherboard other than the ones that show externally....

I get it.... they are not the ribbon type, like the 40 wire hd type, but cables that plug to the connectors in the back of the computer. This was the old solution, to bring the USB and firewire connectors to the front of the case. The more elegant way is to connect a ribbon cable to the extra USB/Firewire headers.

The headers are metal wire spikes (in this case 9 or 10 them aprox. 1 cm long) sticking up from the motherboard where you connect a ribbon cable to.

Check Specs under "Internal I/O Connectors"

IT7 Max2 Ver2

You can always snake the cables out a hole in the rear of the case and connect them externally.
