My friend is running a P4 2.53 on the aforementioned IT7-Max2 rev2. He was running with one 512 Corsair PC3200 stick (in the first DIMM) and everything was fine. He went to purchase 2 more 512 sticks of Kingston HyperX PC3000, for a total of 1.5GB of RAM. It shows in the IT7 manaul (on page 35) that the total system memory can be 2 Gigs, but each individual DIMM can hold 1 gig each. Apparently though, DIMMs 2 and 3 combined cannot hold excess of 1GB of memory. He is unable to get the full 1.5 working however. He has the Corsair in DIMM3, with the two Kingstons in DIMMs 1 and 2. If he pulls DIMM3, it registers as 1 GB, if he puts DIMM3 back in and takes out DIMM2, it still works. He has memory tested all the sticks for 6+ hours with no errors. He is now assuming that Abit has just tossed on an extra DIMM (3) which will not work when memory is inserted into DIMM2. I didn't believe him and am coming here to see if anyone has heard of this problem or can offer a solution.
