I've heard both have very similar capacity of overclockability. uGuru sure makes setting easier, but not much more than that. One thing you should consider is that some HSF takes disadvantage from 45 degree rotation of AI7, such as Zalman 7000. They suggest not to use their 7000 with AI7. Also, I heard some Thermalright ones are not suggested as well, so you need to figure it out.

Not true.

The AI7 is not listed on Zalman's List of socket 478 motherboards that Interfere with CNPS7000(A)

Thermalright states "So far, we have not found any boards not compatible with SP-94.", "So far, we have not found any boards with four holes for bolt-thru-board mounting not compatible with SLK-947U.", "So far, we have not found any boards not compatible with SLK-900-U.", "So far, we have not found any boards with four holes for bolt-thru-board mounting not compatible with SLK-800U."

I have a Zalman CNPS7000CU on my AI7 and it works wonderfully. The 45 degree rotation on the AI7 does not impede the effectiveness of heatsinks. The actual CPU core is dead center under the P4 heatplug and is fully covered.

I highly recommend the AI7 and Zalman CNPS7000 combo. The AI7 is the next generation IS7, with better voltage selections, voltage stability.

I'm currently in same dillema. But from what I see, AI7 is better:

1. Its redesigned
a. No more video card/ram frustrations
b. Better chipset cooling
2. New BIOS technologies and no more voltage regulation problems

For $10 more why not?

interesting...i have the zalman 7000 as well, but the aluminum version and there isn't full contact with the IHS because of the 45 degree rotation. the base of the heatsink is pretty narrow and so a small part of 2 corners don't make contact. i checked twice already, but i'll check again in a few days when i get a new cpu.

the board has rock solid voltages though and great features. you just lose PAT unless you run the nb at 667.
