The fan, lately, started to spin at variable speed, making really loud noise when it spins fast.

I have the machine overclosked for a while now, i dont think it should be a problem.

Is there a way of turning it off, and how? Also, will it affect anything? Will I need a new fan or a separate fan just because I removed it?

Thanks

the fan on my ic7 max-3 burnt out and my computer locked up
kinda sucked but i ripped it off and put a different fan in it's place at the same plugin
you can unscrew the fan and put a better one in it's place if you want :)

good luck

Not to insult your intelligence by overstating the obvious, but if your board is still under warranty, I'd contact Abit and see if they'll send you a new one (for free, hopefully). Installing it shouldn't take more than a couple minutes.

EDIT: Well, after an afternoon of research for a mobo for myself, I've discovered that virtually every one of these companies wants you to contact the vendor you bought the board from first if/when you have a problem with it. So rather than contact Abit, I guess you'll need to contact whoever you bought it from.

Don't get me started on what I think of this policy ....
