I'm posting this for a friend, so don't hackle me about grammar or spelling

Sup ladies and Gents.

I just built my system last night, everything is running awesome except one small problem.

After a fresh format and install of Win XP Pro, rebooting for the first time thereafter my CDRW will disappear. (does not show up in drive management, or device manager)

EDIT
Note: The CDRW is on the secondary IDE controller. (Jumper is set to "Master") And my 120Gb is on the same cable. (Jumper set to "Slave) The HD remains after I reboot for clarification.

My system is:

Abit IS7-G
P4 2.8Ghz "C" (800mhz)
Spark 7 HSF (ThermalTake)
1Gb Corsair XMS TwinX (400mhz)
Raptor WD SATA, & WD 120Gb
Abit G4 Ti4600
Liteon 52x32x52 CDRW
Onboard Sound/Ethernet. (Realtek AC97 & 3com Gigabit)

CDRW's jumper is "master" and the hard drive's jumper is set to "slave" and they are both on the Secondary IDE channel

If the HD is your system drive, try putting the HD as Master and the CDRW as Slave on the Primary IDE. Or, if you only have 2 drives, put one on each IDE channel.

Ok. I see that now. Just try switching the configuration around. Also, check to see if the Bios sees it.

Bios sees Raptor as Primary master, CDRW as Secondary Master and 120Gb as Secondary Slave

Hmmm. The bios is seeing it but Win xp isn't. Thats odd. XP is usually good with that. Maybe try add remove hardware. I had both my DVD and CDRW disapear one time. All I did was messed around with the Cable orientation.

I just built a new system with an is7 and I have the same problem. CD-RW was there for 15-20 reboots, and now it's gone. Shows up in bios, but not in XP.
