I am building and was gonna use my old SB Live X-Gamer. Is the on board sound better??? Is using the on Board sound gonna kill gaming FPS??

Thanks

In my past experience with onboard sound chips the loss of FPS is very minimal unless you use 3d sound, etc.. if you are just using 2 channel stereo it should be pretty good as far as loss of framerate from the CPU utilization that these chips use. An SB Live and the ALC650 sound chip on the IS7's is going to be very comparable in sound quality. It is probably a tossup here.. if you had an Audigy I would recommend using that instead of the onboard but the SB Live is not as good as an Audigy. The ALC650 is one of the better onboard solutions as far as I can tell.

I have the is7e and use the onboard sound with logitech 5.1 speakers. It sounds as good as my SB Audigy did. I like the in-out built in spdif too. The is7e sound software is also very good in allowing selections and speaker setup-testing. I think you'll be happy with it.
