ABIT IS7-E and GAT?

I just snatched a refurb IS7-E for $42 off newegg and need to know about the GAT performance. What is the difference between GAT and PAT? Does the latest bios offer one of these two? How do I enable it? And can any module run in GAT mode? I heard that you must lower the ram timings like cas, etc... to enable it, if so, how is that different from any other mobo that offers ram timings. Thank you.
