Abit IS7 chipset fan

I have this Abit IS7 (i865PE) with a Deleron...

Recently, it's been making weird noises. Those can be traced to the active chipset fan, which slows down (according to the monitoring software, it sometimes goes all the way down to 200RPM from the normal 6000)... then after a little while it speeds back up, etc.

What should I do? Get a new (identical) fan from Abit? Replace it with something passive? If so, what do you recommend? The board doesn't seem to have the mounting holes for the Zalman northbridge coolers...
