I recently just got the Abit IP35 Pro XE, Intel Q6600, and OCZ Reaper 1066. I can't seem to get the RAM running at 1066 however. It defaults to 800. Everything is left at default. When I try to do some manual settings, it bombs out and I have to clear CMOS.

I'd rather not futz around with the voltages. I want to keep everything stock, but I want my RAM to run at the advertised speed! I paid quite a price premium to purchase this faster ram. How would I go about doing this? Thanks in advance.

You probably do have to mess with the voltage setting. The reason why the RAM defaults to 800, is that it detected the voltage as being standard 1.8v, so in order to POST correctly, it dropped down its rating to conform to it. To get to the advertised speed on your RAM, you'll need to manual set the RAM voltage to the one specified by the RAM (check the packaging or label on the RAM itself). It's usually 2.0-2.2v. Once you've raised the voltage to the correct value, the RAM will either load its optimal/advertised timing SPD, or you'll have to manually set the timing on your board.

Good Luck.
