Abit ip35 pro showing different temperatures

Ok I just put all of new parts together .. and temperatures are differing.

http://b.imagehost.org/0565/temps_2.jpg

Does this make any sense? Everything's at stock, BIOS is v16.

Also as soon as I start up OCCT and run it for 15 seconds, my computer freezes and I have to reboot. And even without running OCCT .. it freezes. Could this be a power supply problem?

My specs are:

q6000 G0
BFG 8800GTS
4GB corsair ram
2xsata hdd
1xsata dvd+rw
PSU: Tagan 530W

Would appreciate some help!

EDIT:

And this is when I am running OCCT:

yes, it's normal for there to be some variance in cores.

as for your freezing it could be several things e.g. do you have both CPU-Z & uGuru open at the same time?

I had uguru, coretemp and occt open at the same time .. but that should not crash it, should it?
And what about the difference in temperatures between coretemp and uguru? Coretemp shows an average of 27 and uguru is showing 41 .. which one do i follow?

EDIT: OK .. I think I have found the fault ... whenever I try to change anything in UGuru, it crashes my computer. Anybody else experienced this?

what version of uGuru & which OS?

coretemp & uGuru read from different sensors although as coretemp reads the core temp it should be the higher.
The temps that uGuru shows will vary BIOS by BIOS though as abit adjust the calibration data.

I have experienced crashing/freezing when uGuru and and CPU-Z are running at the same time.

uGuru doesn't seem to play well others.

And please, rid yourself of that hideous default uguru skin. Try this one: http://forum.uabit.com/archive/index.php/t-110148.html

Uguru plus cpu-z and/or coretemp is likely the cause of the crash. Ugure is fine on its own, and seems to do ok with speedfan too.

Thank you, that looks much better

Whenever I try to change the dropdown list to one of the different profiles such as Quiet, Cool, Turbo ..., system crashes? Why would it be doing this?

it was fine with COPU-Z until CPU-Z 1.41 (iirc) - something in CPU-Z changed, not uGuru.

yes, I used to think that uGuru was buggy, come to find out coretemp changed something and forgot to check that it was ok to run with uGuru. use realtemp instead.

Hey there,

The bios is the issue. V16 of the IP35 Pro bios reads 15 or more degrees higher than the cpu actually reads. Because of this, various protections in your bios will either cause your OS to freeze or reboot/shutdown your PC.

I haven't decided if I want to go back to v14 yet, I'm really hoping Abit comes out with a revision, since they're aware of the problem, so what I did as a temporary fix is to raise all the warning/shutdown temps in the bios. I had to do it for my fan as well because my fan wouldn't shut up.
You can do this using uguru as well, but I prefer doing it from the bios because big changes can sometimes freeze up your OS as you've experienced with using ugurus settings. Ultimately, uguru works BEST if EVERYTHING is set to default in your bios. If there's even a slight change, a couple more mhz in cpu speed, a couple more volts, etc. it can freeze your system.
To measure accurately, run coretemp and look at uguru at the same time, record your temps...idle temps, low work temps and high temps if possible. Then simply adjust your bios accordingly.

Also, you want to make sure that C1E is disabled as well as Speedstep, especially if you're overclocking.

Good luck and I hope this helps you.

If you really don't want to be bothered with all of the workaround stuff, go back to v14, that was a very stable bios. v16s issues are based on Abits tweaks for the 45nm chips - they messed something up apparently.

Thanks for the replies guys .. Guru is indeed about 10-15 on top of coretemp, have disabled the warnings in the BIOS .. I will probably stick with v16 for now since if ABIT know about the issue, sooner or later it will get sorted. Don't have any other issues with the BIOS really. Regarding the freeze-up .. its very random .. sometimes it works alright, and sometimes it doesn't when trying to change the profiles on uGuru. Wierd.

there is a 17b02 bios out right now at www.abit-usa.com on the bios forums. you might try that and see if it helps your temps. It appears that they "fixed" the mobo for 45nm and "broke" it a little bit for 65nm :frown:
