Abit IP35-E Problems

I purchased the Abit IP35-E motherboard everyone has been raving about in these forums and I have had nothing but issues. I get the double boot problem, then I started getting an error on start up that my CPU was not being recognized, now I am continuing to get weird errors where my keyboard / mouse aren't recognized at start up.

Can someone please suggest a replacement for this board? Currently I have an e4500, 4gb ram, 1 sata and 1 pata harddrive, and the Nvidia 8500

Dude, sounds like you were in my shoes a few days ago!
Check my post for help here: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2146736&enterthread=y

It seems that we both got an IP35-E with a really old and lousy BIOS.
See if you can update the BIOS.

If nothing works (like mine did), then you may have to re-visit what I did to mine;

-remove everything but Mobo, CPU, 1pc of RAM & VGA.
-unplug power cable
-remove CMOS battery
-put Clear CMOS jumper to "clear" position.
-do your grocery shopping
-come back fully refreshed
-restore Clear CMOS jumper
-replace CMOS bat
-plug power cable
-power on. (It may take a few tries)

With any luck, you should be able to get into the BIOS and make it boot to floppy or USB to flash it with the abit official bios for IP35-E (#15)

Good luck

Hey thanks for the advice, I'm going to try and update then if that doesn't work I'll give what you suggest a shot.

I've just been so unhappy with this motherboard I'm about ready to just get another that is trouble free.

Definitely, try a bios update. I just built a similar system as yours for my brother. IP35-E, E4500, 4x1gb ram, 8500GT, etc and it works great.
