Doesn't seem much different from the beta v16 bioses I used. My overclock remains stable and everything seems nice and hunky dory.

Any feedback yet on B16? I'm relatively happy with the latest beta of BIOS 14, short of the cold boot issue.

Use m1a's link in the first post...it's not on the http site, just ftp.

I am on what it shipped with, Bios 13. My temps on my board are good at 3.9 with 3 hours prime blend and not breaking 60 according to everest...

however, i think the chip and memory can easily to more, but I can't get 4.0 stable...Also my drop is .09-.1. vdimm is1.94 even if i put it up at 2.2. Oh chip is 8400, ram is mushkin.

I don't have a floppy and am very tentative about flashing. Is it better to flash drive or cd-rom flash (kinda lazy about taking out of an old pc and the 3.5" bay taht is accessible from the front panel is already in use on the pc with the ip35-e)? Can anyone recommend and idiot proof guide?

I would like to bring it up to the latest bios to see if I can get some better OC....

Rich -

disable all overclocks, set bios to normal default settings, boot windows, give it 5-10 minutes to complete startup routines, close all running apps, run the windows based flash utility.. I've done it many times with a few abit boards over the years with NO problems. Just be sure to not have ANY antivirus/spyware or any other resident apps running AT ALL when you do this.

Thank you nerp. Where do I get the windows based flash utility? Is that the one that comes with utility disk? I can't get that to work for some reason. I just assumed it was because I am on Vista 64, but I see that you are on it too.

I just grabbed it from the Abit USA download page, under "utilities". Flashmenu 1.57 I believe it is.

Grab it Here.

There ya go.

A couple people on the IP35-E thread at xtremesystems were complaining that v16 (as well as v14 IIRC) would sometimes reset their FSB speed to stock 266 MHz or whatever even though it seemed to be set as one previously had it at a higher speed.

I believe the solution was just to change the setting to something else and back the way one wanted it, save, and power-cycle boot or something like that.

I've also heard the double post issue can still happen if you remove power from the motherboard entirely but that it's usually OK and remembers not to do that
if you just keep standby power on in "soft-off" mode as is usual.

Most people seem to say flashing from floppy / USB dos boot is much safer than doing the windows based flash, of course. Though I haven't heard of too many flash failure stories about the windows flash usage, though I'm sure some people have had problems...

Some people in the ABit forums say the new BIOS is using the wrong multiplier for their chips. Use at your own risk.

There isn't one posted for the PRO model yet.

there are several 16 betas for the Pro available.

pretty much every P35 mobo does that, it's a chipset characteristic as it sets the memory strap.

16 just has an added option to add .5 to the multipliers. Works for me but I see no difference in windows programs for the speed change. I could lower vcore by .02 to .04v though. I am now at 460x9 with 1.325v and was at 456x9 at 1.365v before.
Good so far for me for the first week.

Only for the PRO model so far, I believe. The unofficial sticky for Beta BIOSes is here.

I'd just like to be able to find this board at a decent price, does anyone know where I can get a good deal on a new one? I've been checking Newegg regularly but they show it as being deactivated. I hope its not to late to get a good deal on this board.

I was just digging around today without any luck. You have two choices for a buget p35 mobo imho right now:

1. buy a ds3L for $95 or so
2. wait and hope that ip35 e comes back at a reasonable price

I googled ip35 e today and saw prices of $123 +. I went to pricewatch and they were $92 for a refurbished one...:(

I had completely forgotten this: the first time I booted after flashing the BIOS to 16 and clearing the CMOS, I think my Xeon E3110 started with a 9.5 multiplier. I presumed this was an error so I immediately set everything to defaults, and the next time it booted at 9x. I've been uncertain whether the whole thing was an hallucination...
