ABIT IP-95

mobo

This motherboard can support C2D, PCI-e x16, and DDR1 RAM, all at a pretty damn cheap price of 40 bucks. Right now, I'm on a socket 478 PCI-e x16 board, but I'd like to get a Core 2 Duo without spending loads of money.

I already have 2GB of DDR RAM and a PCI-e x16 card (Radeon X1950GT). So if I were to grab this board and an E6550 (totaling to about $210), would it be a good buy? Would the DDR1 memory hinder my processor?

the board supports both ddr1 and ddr2. his memory will work fine. Don't know about whether it will bottleneck the cpu or not.

If you're not locked into uATX, for $60 you can get a abit ip35e + $130 for a e4500 gets you a good overclock rig for less. Use the $20 you saved to buy some ddr2.

Nice board you recommended. I would prefer an ATX mobo over a mATX, but with $20, you can only get 1GB of DDR2 or so. Thanks for your responses so far guys. 🙂

Any other comments?

Also I notice that the motherboard doesn't specify anything about FSB going over 1066mhz, and the processor I want is 1333mhz. Would the processor be throttled down to 1066mhz, or could the mobo support the stock FSB without hassle?

it would be throttled down to 1066mhz. I would also suggest the ip35-E. what is your price range ATM?
