Abit IC7 Onboard Lan?

Hi, I hope I dont upset anyone posting here instead of the IC7 forum, but that one seems pretty crowded and not responded to very much, and this is a fairly quick question...

I recently bought a retail Abit IC7 from newegg, it was the IC7 on their site, and it even says in the description as well as other places I have seen that this board does not have onboard LAN, thats the IC7-G...

Well my IC7 has onboard LAN. I am still working on putting the computer together, just missing the HD, so I dont know if its 1000 or 100 lan, but I thought this was weird either way. The board itself says IC7, and it has only 2 serial ATA headers as opposed to the 4 on the -G. My manual says IC7-G, but a friend of mine with an IC7 says they just do that because the IC7-G is the same as the IC7, but with a few new features, so they just made one manual.

Any ideas why I have this LAN?

if you have an IC7 with lan, you bought an IC7-G. I's gigabit and no ifs about it. You may have bought an IS7 by mistake... too tho...

The Abit IC7 does have an connector on the rear of the mobo by the rear USB ports but it is not enabled by Abit. I think it does have the chip on the mobo to drive the NIC. Think Abit puts a sticker over it to indicate that it is non-working.

If your IC7 does have onboard NIC then u got lucky and got yourself a IC7-G. The IC7-G also have 2 extra SATA connectors via a onboard Promise chip.

Ok... I guess you didn't read my post, since you are telling me to do a search, maybe you should take the time to read a paragraph. A. I did do a search, maybe I didnt set the right keywords or whatever, thats why I asked again, no real harm done. B. I also stated that it couldn't be a IC7-G because it only has 2 serial ATA headers. C. I also stated that the mobo itself says IC7, not IS7. Did you reach senior member by just reading the topics and responding with what you think people said in their posts, or the actual info...

Anyway, I think acemcmac has some better ideas going there, I just looked at my friends mobo, an IC7, and it looks like he has the sticker over the LAN, when I got my mobo there wasn't a sticker over it, so it is most likely just disabled like you said. So maybe the sticker fell off or whatever, but thanks very much for taking the time to answer my question.

Once again, sorry for reposting this for "the 100 millionth time", I guess I need to sharpen my forum searching skills.
