I just finished building my PC. I have an Abit IC7-G mobo, Intel 3.0 GHZ CPU, ATI AIW 9800, SB Extigy, 2x 512mb Corsair XMS Ram, and 2 Maxtor HD's 160 & 120gb. The problem is when i first booted the PC it did not read or boot up my HD's so I went into bios and enabled all the serial ATA peripherals and rebooted. When my computer booted up it was frozen and did not move. It just said it was detecting drives and would do that until I restarted. I couldn't even go into my bios so I switched the serial ata with a regular IDE cable. Then when I booted up they were able to be read. I went back into bios and switched different things. First the DVD-Rom & CD-RW are in IDE SLot 2 on the MOBO so I kept that enabled, IDE Slot 1 is not in use. Instead I disabled ide slot 1 and changed Serial ATA primary and slave in place of ide slot 1. When I booted up nothing was able to boot still. So I just couldn't really think anymore cause I had to go to work after. I just got home and I wanted to post this so if anyone can give me feeback. Oh yea I also do not have a A
didn't really want one) but the mobo package came with a serial ata floppy. I don't know if that is what I need to boot for serial ata to work. I also am thinking about installing my OS with the IDE cable first then installing the serial ata drivers then switch the ide cable back to the serial ata convertor and wires. I am realy stumped about what to do. Someone I also talked to gave me information about doing something with RAID, but I didn't really understand what he said cause I had to go to work right after. If anyone has any idea PLEASE HELP!
