ABit IC7-G problems

I can't get my system to boot. If I reset my bios, when I go in and load optimised defaults, save and exit, the power stays on but no post at all. If I reset and boot up without going into setup, I get either: CMOS checksum error, or: CPU is unworkable or has been changed, please recheck cpu soft menu. So I do and everything looks ok. I did flash to bios 7.13 first thing, so I don't know if that's the problem or not since I didn't try it with the origanal bios because of my Corsair twinX that I've heard problems about. Heres my set-up:
Abit IC7-G
Pent-4 2.6 gigHz
1 gig Corsair twinX 3200LL
Western digital 80 gi SE
Samsung CD writer
Antec True power 550 watt
Please help, I've been trying to figure this out all day.

i had problems the day i flashed to 13 also.

i did a combination of things.

the book said to unplug the psu from the board and remove the battery. then clear the cmos. it said to leave the jumper for 5 mins also.

see if that works..

I did that and same problem. Do I have a dead CPU or motherboard?

have you tried to set the cpu speed manually?

i have gotten that msg after changing the n/b boot strap setting.

see if setting the cpu speeds helps

I did that also. I'm getting windows to install right now, but without going into bios to set it up. It's wierd. If I restet bios, I can boot up. but if I go into bios, even without changing anything, it freezes after I exit bios. I even reflashed it and get the same problem.

I do get the error: (CPU is unworkable or has been changed, please recheck cpu soft menu) every time it reboots, but in windows it shows it at 2.6 gigHz, what does this mean? If I disabble the CPU strap and manually set it, what should it be set at? I can't remember what I set it at last time I tried, but I'm pretty sure it was the right settings.

Have you tried to load the fail safe defaults in the BIOS? I had a problem with DIMM voltage after flashing an IC-7 to 1.3 and this did the cure.

If you want to manually set the NB strap you have the following choices: CPU (default), PSB400,PSB533, PSB667 and PSB800. You can set it to PSB800 with 1:1 ratio, CPU😀RAM ration (e.g cpu at 200 will have a dram speed of 200) . You should be OK at 200 CPU since the 2.6 multiplier is 13. So the 200 will give you 2600 or 2.6. Your memory will be at 400 mhz at 200 dram speed so it falls within the Corsair 3200LL specs and should be stable.

If I don't go into bios it boots, and windows shows my CPU at 2600 MHz. But if I go into bios and not even change antything, it won't boot. Power stays on, just no post. what could that error mean? I either get the CMOS checksum error, or: CPU is unworkable or has been changed, please recheck cpu soft menu.
Please help. I want to get this thing running tonight.

its doing what mine does if i try to overclock it too much.

did it start happening right after flashing?

maybe you could try to re-flash the bios again.

I bumped my ram voltage to 2.7 and manually set the northbridge strap and it's working.
Why doesn't the default northbridge strap work, I set it to the same speeds manually as the default strap and it's fine.
