ABIT IC7-G MAXII or Asus P4P800-E Deluxe

I am looking at buying a new motherboard. My criterias for the new board are OC'able (don't plan on it...but might), GigLan, SATA, DDR400, and Firewire are the main ones. I've seen good reviews about the Asus but I'm an Abit man...

Don't know what to do...what do you think?

Well I can tell you that I'm happy with my P4P800-e Deluxe. I think the ABIT overclocks better IIRC (I bought this board last year) - but I bought the ASUS because of the passive cooling. I could have sworn there was an IC7-MAXIII when I was there...and THAT was the best overclocker back then. I haven't heard much about this board after that though.

I'm feeling pretty dissapointed though. I bought my setup right before PCIe came out. Now I have pretty much no upgrade path. I"ll probably start from scratch in 2 years anyway.

I'm pretty much happy with this board. Overclocking's nice and simple - don't bother with the windows overclocking crap though.

also wondering which is better...
i hear the abit OCs better but is that really the case? Both of them are so similar and highly rated, I was wondering if anyone else could share their opinion

I have an IC7-G (before the MAX versions came out) and been running for 2.5 years without a hitch. A lot of good options for tweaking.

However, the NB fan is a POS. It's dying and it's noisy.

Overall, I think it's a good choice. I can't comment on Asus's offering.

I do plan on OCing my 3ghz just to keep up with the newer tech, so i was leaning towards the ic7-G, but ive heard of them just dying or people ending up frying their chips. Is this common or am i just thinking of excuses? Ive had a p4p800s for a few years now, and the Asus board has been quite reliable so i might go asus.
