Okay this problem has been haggling me from the start, but I just figured out what the problem was. Ever since I first filled up my 160gb drive a lot of my files became corrupted. I was wondering if the drive went bad or something so I just backed up the files that worked and cleaned the drive. I was filling up the drive again and it was working fine, until I went to a certain limit I think I filled it up with about 120gb or something and a lot of my files became corrupt again. So what I thought was how come it's doing this? I thought my drive had bad sectors on it, but why would it only happen to the 160gb Maxtor Hard Drive when my 80gb Maxtor and my 120gb Maxtor worked fine? It's because the Abit IC7-G doesn't support the large capacity drives. The problem is when you just have the Operating system, in my case Win2k, you need an up to date service pack. With that you can actually just see the full capacity, but if you mobo does not support it your files will corrupt after a certain period. Now What I want to know is does this board actually support large capcity drives? I have a 250gb wd HD and I don't want the same stuff happening to this drive so before I start filling it up what should I do? I have my bios updated recently like last night because I just figured it out doing some research. Since I updated my Bios and there is no information on the Abit website saying that the IC7-G mobo supports large capacity drives I am doing a test at the moment by filling the drive up and then seeing if they become corrupt. Does anyone know if the recent bios update fixes the large HD capacity support? So I don't have to waste my time doing this test? I emailed ABit but it will take forever to get a reply. Also is there any way to get around it to make the drives reach full capacity? Please help me with this, I have lost a lot of important data. I feel like I wasted tons of money on this board and on the large capacity drives...I can't even use it up. Thanks and please reply.
