My cousin needs help on what timings to use with his brand spanking new mofocking abit ic7 and kingston hyperx 3500 (1gb). He is running a P4 3.06 (533MHz FSB) and wants to run it at its rated speed of 433 MHz with the tightest timings. What are youz guyz' suggestions?

you cant. the hyperx cant run with tight timings. THey do work as advertised though at their 433 speed. YOu wont notice much of a difference at all though between tighter timings and loose timings.

if hes not overclocking he should use the northbridge strap 400 for the 3:4 mem ratio.
if he is overclocking he should use the northbridge strap 533 for the 4:5 mem ratio.
the "game accelerator" wont work when using a ratio but its suboptions do.

as for cas settings ~ its rated specs would probably work best.

HTH :)

Curious, does running the DDR at a higher ratio than the CPU FSB give any "real-world" benefits.
I'm waiting for my 2.4C to arrive and am currently running my old 2.53 at 150 FSB, mem at 1:1
I know my HX PC3500 is running way below it's potential but have read differing opinions on whether the P4 can make use of more mem bandwidth than the theoretical max?

heheheh, here goes ...

P4 2.8GHz /533 @ 3.3 :D
IC7 (Bios 1.3)
512mb HyperX pc3500 @ 2-2-2-5 :Q

DDR ratio 4:5 (CPU : DRAM)
CPU: 157
AGP fixed
PSB533

All on default voltage

Ran Prime95 and memtest overnight, no probs at all
great score on 3dmark03

170fsb 1:1 (340ddr) = 15780
170fsb 4:5 (425ddr) = 15982

Nice 200+ pt boost-guess I'll change the ratio while I'm waiting for my 2.4c to arrive.

Thanks,

what kind of cooling setup do you have in there? can you post your temps on it?

I am running 2.8C w/ IS7-G @ Stock

MX4000 w/ TMD

CPU idel @ 47C

what's your temps @ 3.3G?

sure ...

I'm using a Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu hsf

My room temp is about 32 C

idle temp ~42 C
@ load ~54 C

Abit mobos usually report higher temps, so ...

That's the temps @ 3.3? if so, that's pretty good!

I was running burn in last night, and @ standard 2.8 under heavy load up to almost 60C. :Q
