my ic7 board will not post. i have tried it with nothing, no vid card, no ram, etc

When there is no ram the system beeps loudly, with ram it does nothing but it never posts. It just sits there and restarts after 20 seconds or so.

I figured if it was the cpu the mobo would complain

any ideas?

If it beeps with no RAM, then the CPU is probably fine. How about with CPU and RAM, but no video card? Should also beep, but will sound different than the "no RAM" beep. Also, try running the board outside the case to rule out something shorting out.

I found my IC7 was extremely picky with my new RAM. Try flashing CMOS then trying only one RAM stick or the other to get it to post. If that doesn't work, flash CMOS again and try a new RAM stick or slot. Once you get it working with 1 stick set the timings/speed low then install the second stick.

I had a problem with the system not posting and found that the graphics card wasn't seated well. More over, everytime I moved something on the board the graphics card had to be reseated. I'm not sure if its the card or the connector on the board.

Could be your card or a wobbly connector on your motherboard; I've used an IC7, IC7 Max II and IC7 Max 3 and none have the problem which you describe.

Btw, bumping up an old thread here ;) .
