To hell with Abit, my beef is with Epox. I built several systems using the 8RDA+ at various times in 2004. EVERY friggin board has developed leaky caps. Epox customer service is TERRIBLE. At least at Abit they'll fix/replace the board and have it back in your hands within a week or two. Epox kept my board for a MONTH and then shipped it back ground from California.

Interesting,my friend had leaking caps on his board two weeks ago( also a 8RDA+ board), he got a new board replacement from Epox UK within a week.

I had my Epox 8KHA+ develop 11 leaking caps,I replaced it with a DFI NF2 board, btw you`ll find this old news on leaking capacitors

interesting(click here).

I say it is bullshat. Abit is about the only one that stepped up to the plate on that issue and even acknowledged the problem and that gets them sued. No wonder nV is lying out their a$$ over the borked PVP, you cop to it and you are almost certain to have to pay out for doing so. Abit now uses HQ Japanese caps so I hope that gets taken into consideration. Especially since some board makers are evidently still using the ones based on the faulty formula.

I have owned too many to count Abit boards over the years. Some I bought new and some used. Maybe 5 went bad due to bad caps, but not once did Abit give me a hassle repairing them free of charge (well I suppose it cost me shipping)

Note: IIRC all were out of warrantee and some did not have receipts. So did I get lucky with customer service or is the law suit about something different that I'm not reading correctly?

abit has always stood up for their products, their support for me has been great. I was a return buyer, I always look to Abit first.

Too bad to hear this... seems like everyone is getting screwed

The thing to keep in mind about class action lawsuits is they they are never ever about compensating the members of the class. They are about loot hauls for the repesenting law firm. Many class action suits are settled out of court because it is cheaper for the defendant. Most of the negotiation time is spent deciding how much the lawyers get to haul away. A few years back I was notified that I was a potential member of a class action suit brought against Iomega. I had a couple of Jaz drives. The basis of suit was that Iomega's technical support wasn't up to par. Folks were complaining that they were having to wait on the phone too long. The negotiated settlement was that Iomega would promise to spend some x number of dollars upgrading its tech support call center and all of the members of the class would get some silly coupon for a few bucks of the purchase of Iomega product. And Oh BTW the law firm bringing the suit,.. they got 5 million bucks to cover their "expenses" in bringing the suit.

my Soltek SL-75FRN2-L had major issues with leaky caps. I replaced them all and they are all fine now, but there were at least 6 badly leaking caps, it also worked fine. But not comforting. My SL-75DRV4 is still running after having leaky caps for about a year now. It's just a clunker system so if the board does fail, I'll just replace it. Soltek reliability though... still working perfectly :D

If you have bulging caps, RMA the darn thing! You waiting for it to take your PSU along with it when the caps finally short out.?.
