Can anyone help me. I have tried several times to no avail to make a bootable CD with this board. In my BIOS, I set boot to CDROM,C,A. I used several methods including Nero to make a standard BOOT CD. All fail to boot. The system just bypasses the drive and goes to the HD and partition C as a normal boot. Currently I have 2 IBM HD's on my first IDE channel with my Plextor CD as master on 2nd one. My Toshiba DVD drive was a slave on the second one (removed because it only reads CD's - DVD died)and that one failed to boot before. I am puzzled - is this older Abit board noted for this

Ya I have a BX6R2 and solved this VERY SAME problem 2 months ago. I stumbled upon the answer after blaming my adaptec software for making coasters...but it was just a BIOS setup problem.
I'm willing to bet that when the BIOS splash screen appears you don't see this do you ?

DETECTING IDE SECONDARY DRIVE ....YOUR DRIVE NAME

Do this and it will work:
1) Press DELETE key and go into BIOS
2) Enter IDE HARD DISK DETECTION
3) Allow it to auto detect all your drives NOT just your hard drives as in:
PRIMARY
PRIMARY SLAVE
SECONDARY MASTER
SECONDARY SLAVE
4) Make sure you change the default SELECT OPTION "N" to "Y" for each drive
5) Your CDROM drive(S) will have zero cylinders, size ect. and thats OK but it will say 1(Y).
6) Exit and save your BIOS settings.

You should now see this next time...
DETECTING IDE SECONDARY DRIVE ....YOUR DRIVE NAME

Confirm that your BIOS boot drive order is correct.

I have 2 CDROM drives one being a CDRW and this ONLY works with the regular CDROM drive NOT the CDRW, I suspect because it is not a DMA/windows drive.

Good luck !
