I have the above board...shows in my manual, AGP 1x and 2x sideband devices.....So am I screwed that the Geforce MX II cards cant be used in a 1x AGP slot? If so am I stuck w/ a Voodoo3 card instead? Thanks for the info

well, there have been some compatibility issues with the GeForce GTS in some older BX boards. The AGP doesn't matter tho, if you can't use your BX6r2, it's not because of the AGP

So then it is backwards compatiable ? I tried to install TWO different Hercules GeForce II MX cards and all I get is a bunch of pixels runing across my screen...I can barely make anything out.I called vendor and they said it wouldnt work in my 1x slot? I replaced my Matrox MGA card in that slot and it works fine....What could it be then? very frustrated

I have the same MB and graphics card. No problems. It must be something else.

what frequency would that be? Its currently refreshing @85mhz......Could it be the voltage going to the AGP bus? I have heard of things like that....Help me! I have two MX cards sitting at home that I am suppose to return for credit....

I have been using a Creative Labs Annihilator Pro with my Abit BX6 Rev 2 motherboard since last December with absolutely no problems. Recently upgraded the motherboard BIOS so I could install a Celeron 533A and its still working great.

Go to display property, settings, advanced, adapter, and make it to default(60hz) instead of optimal see how that works. If that works, then redfine your monitor and videocard interms of resolution and color depth, under display property. However, since you said pixels I think may be it is the resolution. If it is less the icons of the desktop screen will be pixelated.

I think the card and your mobo is fine, the card works both AGP 2x and 4x. Your mobo is one of the newest BX mobo (and it supports AGP2x) made in last year only about 1 year old so it shouldn't be the problem with your AGP slot and forget about the AGP1x don't worry about that part at all.

the combination works here fine, what you might check is if your i/o voltage is to high.
for some weird reason it is set to 3.5v instead of 3.3v default.

it also could be an overclocking problem, the screen you discribe is mostly seen as you overclock your cpu but have the core voltage set to low.(if your cpu is not overclocked im out of idea's)

hope to have helped

This is what I get when I run sisoft sandra...can someone tell me what this means and how I can get the AGP port to run at 2x?...thxs

Tip T2525 - Current AGP data rate not optimal, i.e. less than chipset?s
maximum AGP data rate. E.g. current AGP data rate is 1x while the
chipset and the AGP card both support 2x. You should get better
performance with a higher data rate but this depends on the application.

Fix: First, use the PCI & AGP Information module to confirm that the AGP
card also supports the maximum chipset data rate. If it does not, don?t
worry about it. For non-Intel chipsets, make sure you install the latest
version of their AGP mini-drivers. You should update the video card
drivers as well. Some non-Intel chipsets can only work in 1x mode with
some video cards.

Just had a Hercules Prophet 2 MX installed in a BX6R2 board with updated bios running C566 @ 850. No problems or special settings were needed. I have W95 OSR2 w/USB support installed. Another reference point for your problems. Lark
