Abit BX-6 Revsion 2

I have an Abit BX-6 revision 2. On the Abit web site it says that it will support up to a P3-700. I have the latest BIOS offered for this board.

My question is, will this board also support flip chip P3's and celerons with a slot adapter as long as the chip runs at the 100 Mhz FSB?

I realize that it wont support the 133 FSB, but it should support the Celeron 2's right?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

It'll run a cpu even if the mulitplier is higher than what's available in the bios. I tested a 733 cel II (9.5x100) on my bx6.2 --ran but the celeron wasn't stable. You can run 133+- with a PIII, but the agp will be out of spec. You'll get a 1/4 pci diver starting at 117 bus.

Though the board's spec doesn't officially include PIII's above 700 it does work quite well with the faster devices. Celeron support has been increased to either 600 or 633 in the latest bios. If there are other flavors I expect they will either run with a bios upgrade or as the higher speed PIII's are supported by using the softbiosII clock select feature.

PIII's above 700 MHZ are not identified by the bios and it's necessary to set the correct FSB clock, multiplier and agp ratio using softbiosII. Once you've done that, the PIII and speed are correctly identified (by you) and it works great.

I'm currently running the following:

PIII 800(E) @ 117 (PCI 1/4)FSB X 8 = 936 MHZ (FC-PGA)
Abit BX6 Rev 2 w/ Iwill SlocketII adapter
256 MB PC100 RAM
Voodoo3 2000 AGP
Soundblaster 32
13 GB Maxtor (Old UDMA33 5400 RPM)
7 GB Maxtor (Old UDMA33 5400 RPM)
2 - PCI Network cards
Avermedia TV
Hollywood + DVD decoder
Modem

At 117 FSB the PCI bus is slightly underclocked but still able to run the hard drives in UDMA mode so throughput there remains the same. The drives won't handle overspeed PCI.

I'm able to run at 124 FSB as well but with the Vcore needing to be bumped to 1.85 I'm running it at the cooler and very stable 936 MHZ.

It was probably the easiest upgrade and most stable upgrade I've experienced.

Yup, I think this is a great board. i just finished upgrade my little brother's BX6 Rev 2.0 from Celeron 333 to PIII 700, add 512 MB of RAM (the ram are so cheap that I couldn't resist the temptation and want to feel how it feels like to have all the dimm slot filled!) give him a Voodoo 3 2000 AGP card and running with Win2k Pro. Now his machine rockz! I can say it just run as good as my CUSL2 board. The best of price and performance upgrade...well...not the ram.
now I just need to get him a new USB scanner since UMAX doesn't support the good old 1200S anymore in the win2k

That's awesome my little bro has this board too, and had for the longest time a 300A overclocked to 450mhz. I recently got him a P3-700mhz chip that'll do 1000mhz. I'm getting him a stick of CAS2/133mhz ram so he can hit the 1000mhz :] Just ordered up a Geforce2GTS from decoy for $150, hope to get that soon as well, and his 2 year old system will be as good as my CUSL2 system :]

Then I gotta move it into this case...
