Abit BP6 compatability with 256MB stick of pc133 RAM?

Just recently I was going to purchase a 256 stick of PC133 off of pccost.com. And, on this site, it gave a list of chipsets that aren't compatable with this RAM (http://www.pccost.com/shopping/detail/418.htm). Amongst these chipsets was the 440BX Chipset (the one which is on my BP6). So I figure that i'd like to make sure of it's compatability before i go and buy it. Hope to hear from someone on this. Thanks

I do believe the problem is that the BX chipset will only see 128mb of the 256mb. Not absolutely sure but seems to me that this is the issue.

If it is some of that SyncMAX stuff then I can attest to the only seeing 128mb of the 256mb. It will still work fine but you will have to upgrade to get the full benefit (made a good excuse for me ;)).

I had a BP6 setup and bought a 256mb stick of Infinenon from a Member here. The Bp6 would only see 128mb. I wasn't too worried as I'd already planned on a CUSL2. So the BP6 I had was a little picky. Great board otherwise!

I wouldn't get the stick from PCcost as it plainly states it will not work with the BP6's BX chipset. Hell-of-a-deal however, if you could use it!

I believe that the bx chipset cannot see the memory because the stick is single banked, 512MB if double banked.

For some reason the bx has a problem with reconizing the high density memory, because the bp6 states that it can handle 256 MB dimms.

Check out crucial, they sell 256's for the BX chipset.

(Please correct me if I'm wrong)

Just checked the BP6 manual and it says the board should have no problem with a 256 stick. Could be the manual's wrong and I'm just lucky I got three 128's for the BP6 I'm setting up now.

I heard tell somewhere of how if i were to get the 256 stick of 133 and run just that, that it might work. Any idea if this is true?

...on that note, I bought a stick of buy.com's DOTD 256M Kingston value ram...should work fine with my Abit KA-7, correct? ...didn;t know there were issues with RAM and MB's now :( ...should get one standard and stay with it...bought my Super socket 7 and an AMD 380, then decided I needed more horsepower, so got a slot-A and a 750..now looking for a little more bang in a couple months...probably have to get another MB :(
