I built a computer with the Abit BM6 for a friend of mine a year and a half ago. He wants a faster CPU (Celeron 400@600 PPGA, currently). Abit's website doesn't go into detail what CPUs the board can handle. It just says Socket370 Celeron. I was wondering if it can run the 100MHz FSB Celerons or P3s. It has the 440BX chipset. I just don't want to buy a CPU and not have it work. I sent Abit and email, but I get the feeling they won't reply.

I just upgraded my girlfriends computer which also has the BM6. The BM6 does not support the PIII. It also does not support Celeron II's unless they have the cB0 stepping. All CII 533's are cB0. Some CII 566,600, and 633 are. The cC0 steppings do not work unless you buy a powerleap adaptor. Then you can run PIII's if you have the Powerleap.
The BM6 is not liberal ith allowable voltage adjustments either. The CII will default at 1.5volts and top out at 1.7volts (i might be off a bit here) so watch it with the cpu you buy. I was able to get a cB0 stepping 566@850MHz with a Gorb used for $65.00 shipped on the for sale trade forums, and lately this week, lots are showing up cheap. That made my girlfriend happy. I also had a BM6 as well, and built both our computers around that board.
