Sonny, what kind of temps were you getting air cooled?

And where did you buy the Prometeia?

And how much did it cost?:Q ;)

Tates: The retail 3.06 HSF I was using ran pretty warm according to the Winbond Hardware Doctor. @ 3.0 GHz+, it would idle in the mid to upper 40's, then shoot up close to the 60's under full load.

jhites: I purchased the Prometeia at ICEePC for $599.99. I ended up going with just the bottom unit since I plan on removing the Prometeia internals from the stock case, over to the bottom unit that housed the watercooling gear in my acrylic case.

Right now at idle, the temp is showing -39C on the Prometeia readout. The Winbond Hardware Doctor is reading -16.50C

It may seem like alot of $$ for cooling.... but I thought about how much I have invested in processors, mobos, high-end HSFs, and watercooling gear over the years, etc... , and concluded that the Prometeia was worth it to me in the long run.

This 2.4B is a wrap.... I can max out @ 195 MHz FSB stable, but the VCore required is too high. (1.80v) I also must consider the best overall system performance, so 195 with a 1:1 memory ratio does not cut it. ;) I have settled for:

CPUZ.. 3284.9 MHz / 182.5 MHz FSB / VCore 1.632 / RAM (4:5) 2-6-3-3 / 456.2 MHz

CPUZ

CPUZ Memory

3DMark2K1

3DMark03

EDIT: Above 3DMark scores are with the Radeon 9700 Pro Not OC'ed.

When my 1.7 P4M returns from it's vacation at the sunny California AnandTech test lab, I will give it a spin. I did not get a chance to try it on the Prometeia. I have run it @ 225 MHz FSB watercooled in the IT7 MAX. ;)

In the meantime, my 3.06 has been staring at me the last couple of days... I think it may want me to throw it in the BH7... :D

Right now at idle, the temp is showing -39C on the Prometeia readout. The Winbond Hardware Doctor is reading -16.50C

ABIT boards generally show higher temps, and from other BH7 owners and their observations, it looks like the BH7 is no exception. I think the temps are reading around 10C+ higher than actual.

On my BH7, I've got a ThermalRight AX478 with Delta 68.5cfm fan. Temps average from 36C idle to 55C load. Thats roughly 10C higher than on my BE7 board. This and a tight 3:4 CPU/DDR memory setting should be adjusted with future bios revisions. I'm sure Abit will pay attention to this as the BH7 is a flagship product.

Overall, I really like the new board. Same 2.4b (SL6EF C1) on my BE7 would ran 162MHz fsb @ default, now runs 172MHz @ default. :D
