ABIT BH6 rev 1 - How far can it go?

I have an Abit BH6 rev 1 (not 1.1) with the BIOS release 7/6/2000. I was wondering if anyone has tested higher end chips (i.e. PIII 733 or Celeron 800) that are not supported according to ABIT's website.
Also, I have a curious problem in that I lose my BIOS settings each time I power off and have to reset them. I have changed the battery.
